Features of Nitrided Ferro Manganese
● Nitrided ferro manganese has a high elemental content, low harmful impurities such as phosphorus, a high nitrogen utilization rate after melting, and requires a small amount of addition.
● Nitrogen can improve the strength and plasticity of steel, expand the austenite region, refine grain size, and improve processing performance.
● Manganese nitride can partially replace nickel, thereby reducing costs.
●Choose the medium and low carbon ferro manganese (or manganese metal) as raw material. The size of the material is no more than 120mm.
●The raw material is crushed into powder of 0.177-0.149mm (80-100 mesh).
●The powder can be nitrided directly or pressed into bricks for nitriding.
●Put the material into the vacuum furnace. Nitrogen is supplied when the temperature in the furnace rises to 700℃, and the temperature continues to rise until nitriding begins at 900-1100℃. Keep the pressure in the furnace at 0.1mpa and power off after 8-12 hours. After 4-6 hours of natural cooling to 400-500 ℃, stop adding nitrogen.
●Take out the finished nitrided ferro manganese (or nitrided manganese). Crush and pack them according to the customer’s requirement.

Ferro manganese nitride can be prepared in two ways
Liquid nitriding method
It is to drum nitrogen into the liquid medium and low carbon ferro mangane in a closed container, so that the alloy is saturated by gaseous or solid nitrogen components. The resulting ferric manganese nitride has the advantages of high density, high strength and high nitrogen utilization rate in steelmaking, but it often cannot meet the requirements of steelmaking because of its low nitrogen content.
Solid nitriding method
It is heated in a closed container in a solid medium and low carbon ferro mangane powder, and fully contact with nitrogen nitriding. Solid powder of medium and low carbon ferro manganese and nitrogen or ammonia decomposition of nitrogen, the interaction will produce a series of nitrogen compounds, and the stability of these nitride decreases with the increase of temperature until decomposition, so the method should control the appropriate nitride temperature, under the case of 60 mesh of medium and low carbon ferro manganese powder in a closed container, In nitrogen and 650℃-1120℃ at the temperature of nitriding 4h-8h, can obtain 4-6% nitrogen content of ferric manganese nitride.
