Iron Silicon
Ferrosilicon or iron silicon (FeSi) is one kind of ferroalloys of which the main content is silicon and iron. When making steel products, ferro silicon is a very important additive. Iron silicon is an iron-silicon alloy made of coke, steel scraps, quartz (or silica) as raw materials and smelted in an electric furnace.
Description
Application of Iron silicon
1.Iron silicon(FeSi) or iron silicon can increase silicon content in cast iron and steel making;
2.Iron silicon alloy can be used as deoxidizer in steel making;
3.Ironsilicon(FeSi) also can be used as inoculant in iron casting;
Iron silicon alloy is used as alloying agent and deoxidizer in steel making. Adding a certain amount of ferro silicon/fesi to the steel can obviously increase the strength, hardness, elasticity and permeability of steel.
In the iron casting, it is used as ball mile agent and alloying agent especially in the nodular iron casting. Adding ferrosilicon powder or ironsilicon lump to cast iron can prevent the formation of carbide and promote the precipitation of graphite and the nodulizing. Then the mechanical capacity can be the same of steel's.
High-silicon ferro silicon alloy or fesi alloy can be used for the production of the low-carbon reductant in ferro alloy industry.
In addition, ferro silicon powder can be used as a suspended phase in the mineral processing industry and coatings for welding electrodes in the electrode manufacturing.
