Introduction of Ferro Silicon Manganese
Manganese has a strong affinity with sulfur and oxygen. It can not only play a role in deoxidation and desulfurization, but also generate MnS to improve the cutting performance of steel.
In addition, manganese is added to steel as an alloy component, which can greatly improve the wear resistance of steel. It is an indispensable material for the production of special steel such as forklift buckets and ball mill liners.
Ferro silico manganese is an alloy of Iron, Silicon & Manganese. It has higher Silicon content in comparison to Ferro Manganese. Silicon reduces the solubility of carbon in manganese alloys, so carbon contents are inversely proportional to silicon content. It is a more potent deoxidizer of steel compared to Ferro manganese. Deoxidization with SiMn results in cleaner steel than using Ferro Silicon. More than half of the Silico Manganese produced globally is produced in China.
