Application of Hc Ferro Chrome

HC FeCr ie High-carbon ferrochrome, the carbon content of which ranges from 4 to 8%;

Introduction of Hc Ferro Chrome

Over 80% of the world's ferrochrome is utilised in the production of stainless steel. In 2006, 28,000,000 tons of stainless steel were produced. Stainless steel depends on chromium for its appearance and resistance to corrosion. Average chrome content in stainless steel is approx. 18%. It is also used to add chromium to carbon steel.

Adding chromium into steel can significantly improve the oxidation resistance of steel and increase the corrosion resistance of steel.

High carbon ferrochrome is used as alloying agent for ball steel, tool steel, die steel and high-speed steel, which can improve the hardenability of steel and increase the wear resistance and hardness of steel.

Adding chromium to cast iron can improve hardness and wear resistance. The mechanical properties can be improved by containing 0.5% ~ 1.0% chromium.

High carbon ferrochrome and charge grade ferrochrome are widely used as furnace charge for smelting stainless steel (AOD or VOD method) to reduce production cost.

Medium and low carbon ferrochrome is used to produce medium and low carbon structural steel and carburized steel, and to manufacture gears, high-pressure blower blades, valve plates, etc. 6. Micro carbon ferrochrome is used to produce stainless steel, acid resistant steel, heat-resistant steel and electrothermal alloy.
