Application of Ferro Chrome 60

Ferro chromium 60/65 has three functions in the steelmaking and casting industry.

●Deoxidizer. Ferro chromium alloys can remove oxygen from molten steel in the steelmaking process, and other impurities such as sulfur and nitrogen in steel can also be removed with other ferroalloys.

●Alloy additives. According to the composition requirements of the steel type, ferro chromium alloy elements are added to the steel to improve its performance of the steel.

●Inoculant. As inoculant, ferro chromium alloy is added to molten iron before casting to improve the crystalline structure of cast iron.

According to the different carbon content in ferro chromium, it also has different uses. Chromium is mainly used to improve the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of steel so that a strongly adhered oxide film is formed on the surface of the steel during the oxidation process, which effectively prevents or slows down the oxidation reaction.

Introduction of Ferro Chrome 60

According to the different carbon content in ferro chrome 60/65, ferrochrome 60/65 can be divided into four types.

●High-carbon ferrochrome: the carbon content ranges from 4 to 8%;

●Medium carbon ferrochrome: carbon content is between 0.5~4%;

●Low-carbon ferrochrome: carbon content is between 0.15~0.5%;

●Micro-carbon ferrochrome: the carbon content ranges from 0.06 to 0.15%.

●Ferro chrome 60/65 with different carbon content is suitable for different application scenarios.

●Ferro chrome 60/65 containing about 5% iron can be used

●Ferro chrome 60/65 containing about 5% iron can be used as a chromium additive for the alloy to iron;

●Ferro chrome 60/65 with a carbon content of more than 4% is often used to make ball bearing steel and steel for auto parts;

●Ferro chrome 60/65 with a carbon content of less than 2% is suitable for making stainless steel, acid-resistant steel, and various other low-carbon chromium steels.
