LC FeCr Ferro Chrome

Low carbon ferro chrome (LC FeCr) is an iron alloy containing iron and chromium. Depending on the application, ferrochrome contains 50% to 70% chromium. It comes from the reduction of chromite, a mineral mainly composed of chromium and iron oxides that is mined as chromium ore.

Low carbon ferrochromium (LC FeCr) is an iron alloy with a carbon content of less than 0.5% used to regulate the proportion of chromium in steel production without adding carbon and other unwanted components. Due to its high quality, it is a reliable and economical substitute for metallic chromium in the production of superalloys.

Ferrosilicon chromium (FeSiCr) metal reacts silicothermally with molten chromium ore to form low carbon ferrochromium (LC FeCr). This reaction requires liquid chromium and is carried out in melting furnaces (EAF); ferrosilicon is produced as liquid or solid metal in reducing furnaces (SAF).

The LC FeCr metal is poured into the ingot, and all impurities on the surface are cleaned with steel balls at high speed in a tunnel sandblasting machine. It is cleaned, crushed, screened and sold in big bags at the packaging facility to the desired size. Usually 10-50mm, 10-100mm needs more.

Ferrochromium is the most important intermediate raw material for the production of stainless steel, accounting for the majority of the world's chromium supply.

The industrial uses of low-carbon ferrochromium mainly include stainless steel, high-temperature corrosion-resistant steel, chemical industry, and machinery manufacturing and other fields.
