Introduction To Carburizing Agents

There are many types of raw materials and production processes for carburetors, including woody carbon, coal based carbon, coke, graphite, etc. Among them, there are many small types under various classifications. High quality carburetors generally refer to carburetors that have undergone graphitization. Under high temperature conditions, the arrangement of carbon atoms is in the microscopic form of graphite, so it is called graphitization.
Graphitization can reduce the content of impurities in the carburizing agent, increase the carbon content of the carburizing agent, and reduce the sulfur content. The use of carburizing agents during casting can significantly increase the amount of scrap steel, reduce the amount of pig iron, or eliminate the need for pig iron.
The feeding method of electric furnace melting should include adding carburetor along with scrap steel and other furnace materials, and small doses can be added to the surface of the molten iron. However, it is necessary to avoid adding materials in large quantities to the molten iron to prevent excessive oxidation, which may result in unclear carbon enhancement and insufficient carbon content in the castings. The amount of carburetor added is determined based on the ratio and carbon content of other raw materials.
Choose different types of carburetors for different types of cast iron according to your needs. The characteristic of carburizing agent itself is to choose pure carbon containing graphitized material to reduce excessive impurities in pig iron. The appropriate selection of carburizing agent can reduce the production cost of castings.
